Particularities of e-commerce in Poland

As in all countries, online business is growing in Poland. However, this sector has its own local characteristics that make it worth a visit.

The most important differentiation from other European markets is the presence of the Allegro platform, which dominates the market to such an extent that it is spontaneously mentioned by 87% of Polish internet users (Gemius 2021 survey). Its main competitor, Amazon, is still far behind in terms of number of users. But this situation might change very quickly with Amazon’s new subscription offer, which is very competitive.

Polish start-ups regularly rank at the top of European e-commerce rankings. Among them:

  • Answer.com : A multi-brand fashion platform that is currently entering the Croatian market – and now has nine countries in its customer portfolio.
  • IdoSell : A startup creating online stores for its customers and supporting them throughout the sales cycle. It has just announced a partnership with Wish, present on the e-commerce market in over 100 countries.
  • eStore Media : This start-up with its flagship product Digital Shelf Automation received $30 million in investment this year. The company enables its customers to control the presence of their products on different sales platforms.
